What a day I’ll say!
Yesterday Gabby had no school, as “Thrilled” as she thought she was, it went all down hill, the girl’s and I would of liked to have stayed in bed and snuggled watching cartoons how ever we had a Doctors apt that I had made for Emma and was not thinking of a day off from school this soon.
We went to the allergist for Emma and the Doctor went over this in depth history report, it was a ½ hours of basic routine questions and besides it was our first time there, well the Doctor said “That they have not formatted a test as of yet and they can not exactly detect which color dye is the one that is causing her to break out in the hives”
But:
In reviewing all the bottles and the food that she has had a hive attack with, they all carry the red # 40 dye and this one is know to be the strongest one, (I knew this before I went) however the Doctor said that the other forms of dye are not as strong as the red dye and that it can have the side effects that Emma is getting, she said that bubble gum flavor and cherry of course all have red FD& C and I must avoid them at all costs and watch the foods that carry red dye in them as well. The other colors are not as strong but I was told watch and be careful.
We've also found problems with food dyes being in liquid antibiotics. Talk with you pharmacist and physician before prescribing antibiotics to see which one is best for your child. (For Emma we need a no red dye medicine) Dye free would be best!
They have many other options that can meet Emma and her needs .Amoxicillin does come in a dye-free form; however it may be necessary to obtain this from a compounding pharmacy.
Also, both Benadryl® and Motrin® come in dye-free formulas, as do many other over-the-counter medications.( I have seen some in the market)
Good to know:
I f this day is not tiring enough on Monday I drove Gabby to school came home and stopped at the mail box went back to the car turned it on and it would not START
I called my Mom and Dad to help me out and they came to my rescue .My Husband was already at work, so Thank G OD my Dad was off from work and lent me his car to get Gabby from school. Meanwhile when my Husband came home and I described what was happening he said lets not fool around lets go to the auto shop. We did and the car went in for check up and the man said it was the STARTER. Thank God that it was only one part, still a pricey $ part but now it is fixed and driving much better. YEH!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
