Today the Doctors office called with the results of Emmy’s iron test.If you recall a couple of weeks ago when emmy went for her regular check up they tested her blood levels and one of the blood tests was to check her iron . The results on the IRON level had the Doctor concerned ,that she was considered anemic. Which in Doc terms means-A lack of iron. I was so scard not knowing what was going on and the Doctor wanted to have her retested and do a better conclusive test to pin point where the lack of iron was coming from. They wanted to know if her little body was not producing it somewhere or if it was all diet related, and if It was diet related that it can be corrected with a iron supplement. Bingo it was detected that it is her diet, Emmy eats well, however she is intaking way too much milk. I didn’t know that a toddler can only have 2 to 3 glasses of milk a day and should have other drinks in between. Emma is so addicted to milk . I have tried to give her juices however she perfers milk really. I thought that cows milk was great for the brain delvopment . Ok so I learned something new. That she is drinking too much milk and that is not good for her.The milk is absourbing all the iron in her little system and she is not getting it. So he is putting her on a iron supplement called ferinsol. I of course googled this and its by the makers of Enfamil and is dye free, so I was releaved. The Doctor wants her on this 3 times a day so breakfast ,lunch and dinner. I need to give her this iron supplement and not all the milk . The next couple of days will be fun to adjust her to this new diet of only 2 glasses of milk. This is the information that I read on line in regards to this iron supplement and the side effects.I thank God that this is something simple that can be taken care of with a supplement. Now the issue with the drinks is that some carry dyes and she is allergic to the dye so iam in the market looking for dye free not so much with acid drinks. I f any of my blogger friends can offer us any postivite suggestions on drinks that you think I should try please let me know. I never would think that giving her milk would effect her..... Hello....
