I was not aware this was a big brand I always thought canon but willing to try. the D-90. thank you all in advance. love michelle
Hello every one
I have to tell you I was so excited to buy my xsi this week end however I have had some frustration, and looking for functions that I'm use too that I do not have.
I know it is like riding a bicycle you fall down you get right back up
Trust me when I say that I have tried and it is not that easy .
God made me a visual person I need to see something step by step for me to get it , it might take a while but then I get it. But with this canon camera it is a love hate relationship
sigh .............
My Hubby knowing me so well and understanding that I was so frustrated did some research and found out about the Nikon d 90
Well if any of you have it tell me more I see that they say the screen is easy to use and that they have video that is cool that was something I was missing and the camera it's self is set up different then the canon yet still the same slr picture quality .
I have been going back n forth with this all evening and it is so heavy on my heart however I feel and think I may switch to the Nikon d-90.
Sorry Cannon girls .
IF any of you have this model please leave a comment and let me know if it is good or bad or so so .
Also let me know if it has a live view and a b& w button as well love that
so here is the voting

Oh my hun how does fate work...GREAT! Ok so I have the Nikon D90 and LOVE IT! I knew nothing about a DSLR camera and I was able to pick this camera up and begin shooting (without looking at the manual as well). Also it has an amazing feature...High Def. video which makes for a great combo for mommies like you and me. Let me just say, that I love the Nikon D90 and would not change it for anything...it's my second baby! Let me know what you end up with and if you want to know more, then just ask! Take care hun:))
Sorry can't help Michelle - I have an Olympus SP-570uz. I have not gone to an SLR yet. That is my next camera and when I do I'm taking photo lessons! I am going to get a new lense for this camera - I'm ready to step up all of my pictures!
Thnx for the sweet comments on my blog! You are very kind! I'm truly touched and humbled!
God bless and good luck with your search for the perfect camera!
Jill
i can't help much. i got a Canon xsi for Christmas, but still have a ways to go in learning how to fully use it...
I too have a D90 and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. The video capability is amazing. As for live view...it only works (as far as I know) when you are shooting video. As for the rest of it...yes, it shoots B&W, Vivid, Monontone, Sepia. You name it this camera does it!
Now, having said all that, mine had a little glitch when I bought it so it has now been sent of to be repaired. I should have done it months ago but I didn't want to give it up for two weeks.
Let me know if you want to know anything else about it. It truly is the best camera I have EVER owned.
I'm a Nikon girl at heart, I have the F80 now but am upgrading to a digital at some point this summer and am trying to decide between the D80 or the D90. I'd say stick with Nikon...but that's just me!
I am a canon girl, but don't get me wrong, I would love to try a Nikon D90 out...sweet camera.
I'm impartial to Canon. I've had at least 5 of them now...and just got the XSi. However, it does NOT have any video capabilities.
We're never too old to learn something new; you'll have to relearn no matter which camera you end up choosing. Don't be afraid of that! It's inevitable.
Circuit City is having sale on all merchandise 20% last I knew. Their inventory is hit or miss tho.
Don't rush your purchase - it's a big one...one that you'll live with for years to come.
Good luck!
I just saw your sweet comment on my blog. Thanks for your encouraging words!!!
Hey, I've been looking for a new camera. This info is really helpful.
Love your blog! Hope you don't mind if I pop in:-)
You are so welcome for the information. On a side note, I had a Canon Rebel before my D90 and it was a nice camera but nothing like the D90. Having said that though, beauty is within the eye of the beholder. Just beware that the D90 weighs ALOT more than any other camera you have probably ever used.
As for my lens, right now, I only have the 18-105 mm. Eventually I hope to add to my collection : )
Again, if you have any more questions feel free to e-mail me. I wrote about the D90 when I first got it at http://thebrookshirefam.blogspot.com/2008/11/say-hello-to-my-little-friend.html

Here is a website that compares Canon and Nikon cameras.Hope this is helpful to you.
Scroll to about half way down the page and it will compare the D90 to the XSi.
Good luck on making your choice.
I don't know if you already made up your mind but I just bought the D-80, loved the D-90 but this was my very first DSLR purchase and thought the D-80 was a good place to start. I think the D-90 did have a live view plus video capabilities. I bought my new camera at B & H Camera out of New York because another blogger so kindly pointed me in their direction(and I needed direction, LOL). So now I am hoping to take a class and learn how to use this baby. Good luck
thank you every one for your help, wow so many of you all love your Nikon:)))
Not sure if you already made your choice, but I shoot with a Canon 40D. I have never used Nikon, already had Canon lenses from my film days, which is why I stuck with Canon. I have to say I am very happy with the camera. More than that, though, I love my Canon lenses. Quality glass makes more difference than a quality camera body, in my opinion. I would love to upgrade to the Canon 5D Mark II with video, but I don't have an extra couple thousnad lying around... :)
Hi Michelle, Thanks so much for checking in on me. I've finally posted an update. Sorry I stayed away so long. We've had so much going on...I took a break for blogging. I've been catching up on your site tonight....looks great. Thanks again for your kindness.
My sister has a canon and wishes she had the nikon. I think as long as you have that adorable camera strap you're set! :)
